FUNKETTLE

Funkettle

Funkettle was born when Arlington, Texas resident, Charlie Campbell, started jamming with some of his girlfriend's pals: Eric Davis: bass, Todd Dalton: guitar and Jay Sheedy: drums.
Eric, Todd and Jay had been in a band called Jake Leg, but the group petered out when the singer and second guitarist became disinterested. The jam sessions were called Monster Bass because of the presence of two electric basses (played by Charlie and Eric). A few months later, they added Bryan Jones on trombone and Andrew George as a trombonist/dancer/ideas man. Funkettle mostly played loose, funky, bottom heavy jams. FunkettleFunkettle played a few shows and also had a track, "Wookie", on the Lamar High School élan (a high school literary publication) CD (which also features songs by the Sheepdogs and Doug Gordon). Other songs include "Just My Ejaculation" (a crowd favorite), "Disco Enforcers", "Mario" (a loose rendition of the Super Mario Brother's theme), "Shlong", "Theme to the Enforcers Vs. the Clones", "Potato Ska" and "Copkiller" (a jazzy deconstruction of the controversial Body Count song). Funkettle was strong for more than a year ('94-'95), but came to an end when Charlie, Andrew and Bryan went to college in Austin.
