THE STORY

The Sheepdogs

In 1992, musician Peter McGuiness moved back to Arlington, Texas in order to move into his childhood home--left to him by his parents (who moved to Florida). On his way into town, he saw a mysterious figure walking along the side of the road. Normally Peter would not have picked up a hitchhiker, but he was intrigued by the man's only piece of luggage--a guitar case. That hitchhiker was the man known only as Larry. Soon the two were inseparable.

Peter, Larry and Bob

Larry and Peter quickly started an instrumental folk duo. They recorded a single, "Delicate Hammer", for the upstart label, Elephant Records. Scott Brown--president of the label--insisted that they get a drummer. That very night, Peter and Larry met Robert Sessims. Bob was an Englishman who relocated to Arlington because he read about its amazing underground music scene in NME. When Peter and Larry first saw him, he was in the middle of playing a six-hour drum solo at a coffee house on open mic night. Bob was convinced to join the band when he realized that Peter had a shower he could use.

The Sheepdogs in Peter's garage

Peter decided to call this ramshackle crew…The Sheepdogs. The group quickly began practicing original material with Peter on bass, Larry on guitar and Bob behind the drum kit. All three wrote songs and all three sang. In the fall of '93, The Sheepdogs released their first full-length album, We Do Not Exist. The singles, "Catheder" and "Embryo", were college radio hits.

The Sheepdogs recorded four more albums and released 13 successful singles. But trouble was on the way...

Well, nothing lasts forever...
